Freshman Year

"You can’t do it alone. Be open to collaboration. Find a group of people who challenge and inspire you. Spend a lot of time with them, and it will change your life." — Amy Poehler

Freshmen year is a time of change and new beginnings. Finding your niche and interests can be difficult, but also an exciting time to meet new people. Through the first year of CIBACS, you develop the base knowledge of communication and presentation skills. From proper handshaking to just getting your foot in the door on how to research proficiently; This first time period is an opportunity to listen and take in the hustle culture.

My mission is to put my best foot forward in making a lasting impression on the CIBACS community early on. Learning the basics of presentation skills and communication will help elevate my overall not only my grades but position as a leader.

1 Minute Presentation

1 minute to express yourself and make an impression on the class. This first assignment assigned on the 1st week of school breaks the seal of first presentations in CIBACS> This quick moment allows you to present yourself in front of classmates and teachers.

2 Minute Presentation

After establishing confidence and taking corrections from the 1 minute presentation, students create a 2 minute presentation. With the prompt of "Who is your superhero?" you can express to the class the people you care about the most.

Literary Agent

This first main project as a CIBACS Freshman introduces students to presenting by themselves in a longer 10-minute presentation and conducting research. Each student got to pick a book relating to a business entrepreneur and try to sell the book to a publishing company. I love reading the book about the founder of Mcdonald's.

World Exposition

In this fun end-of-the-year project groups of students gather to represent a country in an exposition of booths. My team represented Switzerland, and although we only met online, this was one of my favorite projects of the year. To the side is one of the recipes I had to research for learning about different traditional foods in Switzerland.
